About Stephanie Foresta

In 2000, I graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with a Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Secondary Education and Teaching. In the fall of 2000 I started teaching mathematics at a high school level and I was quite frustrated with the given available books and resources. This is when I started creating my own daily worksheets, quizzes, tests, activities, and projects. I have currently taught levels of math from Algebra 1 to Calculus in my 16 years of teaching in the Clark County School District.

I love integrating technology into my classroom so in 2003 I started working on a Masters (MA) of Education in Educational Instructional Technology from Lesley University. In 2005, I graduated and since then have been using varying instructional strategies, approaches, and self-created resources. It was at this time I started my own website and making my classroom notes and resources available for students online.

See More About Passing The Nevada Math Proficiency Exam Book About 8 years into my teaching career I started to teach a class called Math Applications. The courses curriculum included Nevada State Teaching Standards and was designed to prepare students to pass the Nevada Math Proficiency Exam. The class did not have a textbook so I took it upon myself to guide in the development of lessons for improving the student pass rate required for graduation. In 2011, I self published my lessons in my book called "Passing the Nevada Math Proficiency Exam" and started my business Foresta Math. The resource book is currently available on this website and on

Publishing a resource book was and still is one of my great accomplishments of my life. Students and administration acknowledged what I created and I was recognized with some awards. From student letter submissions I received the "UNLV Certificate of Recognition" in 2011 and the "Barnes and Noble Favorite Teacher Contest" in 2012. From my school and region administration I was given a "Gala Star Award" in 2009 and in 2012.

While working on writing and publishing my resource book I was still teaching full time and I was back in school. I attended Touro University of Nevada and completed another Education and Instructional Technology Program in 2010. I also started developing and design my math board game "The Great Math Adventure". Currently my board game is sold with Algebra 1 Common Core questions available on this website. Additional questions are in development for Pre-Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2.

In the fall of 2013, I attended a National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Conference in Nevada and attended math, technology, and foldable sessions. This is when I decided to start creating and using foldables. I also joined Teachers Pay Teachers and created a seller account where some of my products are also sold. I am a teacher like you and am unwrapping and teaching the Common Core Curriculum. I hope the materials I create help you teach and review curriculum with your students.
